Please join us for a celebratory evening of music, food and socializing at a historic private residence in Santa Monica.

This special event will support progressive, cultural Jewish education in Los Angeles by benefitting two long-standing, non-profit organizations.

The Sholem Community—a family tradition for more than sixty years—stresses the historic, cultural, and ethical aspects of Jewishness for those seeking an alternative to the religious experience of Judaism.  The Workmen’s Circle / Arbeter Ring SoCal—established in 1908—fosters Jewish identity through Jewish culture, education, and community.  Both Sholem and the Workmen’s Circle have a proud history of supporting social and economic justice and are committed to justice, peace, and community responsibility

This evening will pay tribute to the legacy of Yip Harburg, father of the socially-conscious lyric on Broadway, who brought left-wing thought into American musical theatre, film and popular song (“Over the Rainbow,” “Brother, Can You Spare a Dime” and over 600 other songs.)  Also being honored are teacher and legislator, Jackie Goldberg, former judge and council member, now college instructor and trustee, David Finkel, and artist, Bruria Finkel, for their activism in progressive education and the arts.  Entertainment will include musical performances by Kaye Ballard, Steven Weber, Lindsey Alley and more.

Come enjoy yourself and support the continued work of educating our next generation of secular and progressive thinkers and leaders!
