Judaism & Mental Health: An Empirical Approach

URL: http://www.jewishjournal.com/community_calendar/item/judaism_mental_health_an_empirical_approach1

Over the past two decades, psychological research on spirituality/religion (S/R) and mental health has dramatically increased. However, Jewish populations have been largely neglected in this area of study. As a result, much remains unknown about the relevance of Jewish S/R to mental health, and the provision of culturally-sensitive evidence-based treatment has been encumbered.

Internationally renown Founder and Director of JPSYCH, David Rosmarin, Ph.D. will share his recent research regarding the relevance of spiritual and religious issues to psychopathology and its treatment.  Dr. Rosmarin is an instructor in the Department of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School and the Director of the Center for Anxiety in Manhattan.

This talk will describe recent advances in the science of Judaism and mental health based on studies conducted by the JPSYCH Laboratory (www.jpsych.com).
