This tomato—found in your local market wherever ‘heirloom tomatoes’ are sold—is the Purple Cherokee or Cherokee Purple Tomato.

Look for it. Smell it.  Buy it.  Eat it.

I prefer to eat it out of hand with just a sprinkling of kosher salt.
