News about The Great Schlep—an effort to mobilize young Jews to visit older relatives in Florida to convince to them to vote for Barack Obama—has been all over the Web for weeks. CBS News just found out about it, and wrongly attributes the idea to Sarah Silverman.

Comedienne Sarah Silverman started “The Great Schlep,” CBS writes on their YouTube site.  Wrong.

Sure, Sarah made a video to promote the effort—and Jackie Mason made a counter video—but Sarah didn’t come up with the idea.  We still love her anyway, and thought she was great last night on Dave.  Too bad she didn’t stop by Black Rock to straighten out the newsies.

The CBS News report

In my years in the news business, I’ve always recognized that the more one knows about a story, the easier it is find clueless reportage.  But CBS?

Shame!
