Saturday the 24th

Opening today is mixed-media artist Marcie Kaufman's exhibition "Beyond the Line," which "explores the idea of line in the context of Israel." Painting, photography and digital media are merged to raise questions about physical lines -- such as borders, boundaries, walls, gates, wires and trees -- as well as conceptual lines and limitations.

Sunday the 25th
Israeli actor, television host, and all-around funny guy Eli Yatzpan brings his show to Los Angeles this evening. He presents an all new comedy show at the Wilshire Ebell Theatre, with fellow actor Meir Suissa.

Monday the 26th

It's Ladies' Night at YULA Girls' School, as the students present their Spring Musical production of "Beauty and the Beast." Women and girls only are invited to attend and support the school. An encore performance takes place on Tuesday, as well.

Tuesday the 27th
The stories of two Death Row inmates create the backbone of the new documentary, "Race to Execution," airing tonight on PBS. Directed and produced by anti-death penalty activists and sisters Rachel and Andrea Lyon, the film focuses on one aspect of the capital punishment issue, namely the influence of race on courtroom juries.

Wednesday the 28th
Beginning this week, USC Hillel Art Gallery presents "Sleepwalking: An Exhibition of Paintings by Eugene Yelchin." Included are works from two of the Russian Jewish artist's series, "Sleepwalking" and "Section 5," both of which explore his feelings of displacement, first as a Jew in Russia, and later as an immigrant in America. An opening reception and conversation with Yelchin takes place March 25.

Thursday the 29th
A New York Jewish schoolteacher wants to marry a commitment-shy British sculptress; a 60-ish Brooklyn housewife becomes the sculptress' model, changing the dynamic between herself and her retired husband. Their stories are the essence of Frank Tangredi's new play, "Galatea," named for the mythological nymph statue brought to life by the goddess Aphrodite. The show runs at The Space through April 14.

Friday the 30th
Sean Altman of "What I Like About Jew" and "Rockapella" fame is touring again, this time with "Jewmongous" his latest Jewish-themed comedy song and variety show. Original song titles we can print in this family newspaper include "They Tried to Kill Us (We Survived, Let's Eat)" and "What the Hell Is Simchas Torah?" Altman is in Los Angeles tonight, Solana Beach on March 31, and Santa Barbara on April 1.
