New Jewish Magazine for Kids

This month, ZimZoom will be coming to Jewish schools and libraries nationwide. Rising from the ashes of BabagaNewz, a magazine geared toward Jewish children that had a circulation of 1,000 schools and reached 30,000 students before its discontinuation due to funding complications, ZimZoom is “filling the void,” said Michael Folib, publisher of both magazines.

“We’ve been hearing from teachers that they really miss having something tangible that they can give their students in the classroom,” said Shoshana Brickman, editor of ZimZoom, in a press release. “We’re working to give schools something that’s fun, hip and strengthens their bonds with Israel.”

Published in Israel by Good Times, Ltd., the colorful pages of ZimZoom aim to teach kids how cool it is to be Jewish. “It is the closest connection schools can make without actually visiting the homeland,” Folib said, and it offers new sections that the previous periodical did not have. Geared toward students ranging from fourth to seventh grade, ZimZoom will be distributed to close to 5,000 students.
