Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met with Jewish Home party leader Naftali Bennett for the first time in five years.

The two political rivals reportedly talked Monday about forming a government coalition.

Bennett had served as a Netanyahu aide but quit about five years ago following a clash with Netanyahu's wife, Sara. Monday's meeting took place a day after Bennett apologized for insulting Sara Netanyahu during the campaign.

"The attacks on Sara Netanyahu are unacceptable. She is a good woman who loves her husband,” Bennett said Sunday on Army Radio. "He has a right to consult with her, as I do with my wife. If someone wants to criticize Netanyahu’s policies, he’s the address, not her.”

The two men reportedly agreed to meet again in the coming days.
