Jordan’s King Abdullah told American Jewish Congress leaders that U.S. Jewish groups should get behind Middle East peace efforts. In a meeting with AJCongress president Richard Gordon and co-executive directors Matthew Mark Horn and Marc Stern, Abdullah urged that the 2002 Arab Peace Initiative be used as a basis for negotiations on a settlement as soon as possible, according to a report on the meeting in the Jordan Times newspaper. The king, according to the article, said that wasting the opportunity to achieve a comprehensive settlement will cast doubt on the feasibility of the peace process and cause more tensions in the region. |
