A car accident in Hollywood on June 20 left Luba Pinchuk, 19, a graduate of Valley Torah High School who recently returned from a year in seminary in Israel, in critical condition at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. The car in which Pinchuk was a passenger was struck by another car on Highland Avenue. Pinchuk, seated in the back on the driver’s side, was hit hardest. She incurred bleeding in her brain, a broken pelvis and numerous other fractures. The three other passengers suffered broken bones and some minor injuries. Pinchuk, who has been at Cedars-Sinai for the past three weeks, is in critical but stable condition, though she has not yet regained consciousness. CT scans have revealed no abnormalities in her brain; however, swelling persists, and doctors are continuing to monitor her condition. Friends and family have set up a Facebook page and another Web page to garner support and donations for her recovery and to help pay medical expenses; they have raised $3,000. Alexandra Suhl, her friend since eighth grade, is hopeful that Pinchuk will have a full recovery. “The support she has been getting is incredible,” Suhl said. Donation Information |
